Press Release 1 August 2019

Apparel Resources, the force behind ASW, is responsive to industry needs

The buzz around the inaugural ASW in March 2019, right through the build-up to the final day of activity, cemented the confidence of its organiser, Apparel Resources, that India needs a global sourcing show. The transition of the country from an apparel manufacturing hub to a booming fashion retail market over the last decade has created opportunities that never existed before for the global apparel industry and AR has not only sensed this opportunity, but acted upon it with the creation of ASW.
As publisher of the widely read Apparel Online magazine, AR’s core team is thoroughly well versed with the industry and its needs. Interacting with the industry on a day-to-day basis, AR unravelled that Indian fashion retail is growing at a very fast pace and the need to find the right partners for a competitive edge is a priority. While manufacturing from India is an obvious choice, the growing number of stores and product categories moving beyond borders to meet the requirement of larger volumes and more diverse product segments have become critical in a competitive environment.
Besides, having presence in multiple countries like India, Bangladesh and Vietnam, has given AR a global perspective on fashion business and a clear understanding of how the region is looking at India, as the country grows in status as an economic powerhouse to reckon with. In fact, India is aptly positioned to soon become the window to South East Asian countries and leveraging over this advantage, conducting a global sourcing event with manufacturing strengths from the region is a good synergy that AR has capitalised on with the introduction of ASW.
However, the concept of ASW was not built in a day. Over the last 25 years, Apparel Resources has grown in reach and penetration, committed to representing apparel manufacturers in their endeavour to expand market and explore new opportunities. During this long tenure spent along with the industry, AR has remained rock steady in supporting, guiding and standing by the garment exporters and the retail industry in both good and difficult times. It is in fact among those few media houses that talk about sourcing and its various dimensions.
Through its benchmark publications – Apparel Online India, Apparel Online Bangladesh, Apparel Online Vietnam, StitchWorld and Resource Guide in India, Bangladesh and Vietnam – Apparel Resources knows the in and out of the various sourcing and manufacturing destinations and their changing needs. This understanding has helped the company to be the real voice of the industry at many international and national forums, making sure that they are heard. .
Significantly, AR is also known for organising and conducting many industry-focused seminars and workshops that have been highly appreciated by the industry. The team has extensively travelled around the world visiting and participating in various fairs. As a visitor and exhibitor, the dos and don’ts of a good value proposition for any exhibition-based event is very clear to the core team. All these experiences have shaped the thought process of the team at AR on what the industry is looking for today in a sourcing event. And it is not only about just meeting some manufacturers.
ASW ’19 is an amalgamation of these experiences, and that is why it has touched the right cord with its exhibitors and visitors, alike. The show’s engaging format ensures that there is never a dull moment and the buyers get to see some of the best manufacturing companies of the world. “With ASW ’19, held at ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru, the benchmark has been set very high. ASW ’20 will have many more surprises in store for the exhibitors and visitors, raising the bar higher,” said Deepak Mohindra, President and Editor-in-Chief, Apparel Resources with confidence born from knowing the industry pulse.
