Press Release 20 June 2022

Exciting line up of panel discussions @ASW 2022

As we are nearing the event ‘Apparel Sourcing Week 2022’, we are super-thrilled with the panel that is coming together and all the discussions it will entail.

The event is scheduled to be held on 1-2 July at Hotel Sheraton Grand Whitefield, Bengaluru.

Apparel Resources, the organiser of ASW, has been the leading B2B media for the fashion industry for last three decades. With its offerings of Apparel Online India and Apparel Online Bangladesh, it is most suited to present a line-up of exciting seminars and panel discussions touching upon the most relevant topics pertaining to future of manufacturing, retail, technology and sourcing, for the benefit of the industry, which is always on the lookout for new directions to stay relevant.

On the very first day itself, ASW will present one of the most relevant panel discussions.

Titled, Reinventing Physical Retail, the first interactive session will focus on how the Covid-19 pandemic has brought the physical market to a standstill, forcing traditional retailers to try the course of the online marketplace even as the very essence of retail has undergone drastic changes and transformations.

Next in line will be the second panel discussion of the day, Fashion Innovation using AI.

Retail sector has not only taken a hit on account of the Coronavirus pandemic, it has also brought to the forefront the role and relevance of technology in the changed milieu.

Artificial Intelligence, in particular has gained massive relevance, more so in light of AI in the fashion market poised for exponential growth with a CAGR of 40.8 per cent by 2024, leading brands to rethink their strategies with a focus on AI.

The third panel discussion of the day will centre on another very relevant topic of the current times!

Titled Upcycling-The New Frontier for Sustainability, the panel discussion aptly focuses on upcycling, which is the future in fashion, as the fashion industry comes increasingly under scrutiny for its unsustainable practices.

The last panel discussion of the day is Sourcing in Times of Industry 4.0.

Industry 4.0 brings a synergy between machinery, consumers, and products, enabling a highly automated system as the wave of digitalisation developments such as IoT, AI, big data and analytics, PLM, machine learning, automation and robotics, cloud computing, blockchain, 3D printing among many others, bringing in major transformations.

The second day also has an equally exciting line up of seminars, openhouses and fireside chats to facilitate knowledge sharing and networking.

Around 95 per cent of Fortune 1000 companies seeing disruptions within their supply chains, supply chain risk management, has become a top priority in procurement as organisations are losing millions due to cost volatility, non-compliance fines, and incidents that cause damages such as the risk of natural disasters, hazards, etc.

To throw light on this burning issue, ASW kick-starts the day two of the event with the first panel discussion, titled, ‘Mitigating Risks In Sourcing’.

Next in line is panel discussion ‘ Complement And Collaborate - Synergies Between India And Bangladesh’, touching on building the much-needed synergy between the two countries to bridge the trade gap in the textiles value chain.

Winding up the second day of the event on successful note will be the last panel discussion, titled, D2C Opportunities For Fashion . The D2C market size is estimated to grow to US $ 22 billion by FY ’25 and contribute more than 10 per cent to the total FMCG, home and consumer accessories market. It is emerging as a very important aspect and more so for India, which is witnessing an uptick in consumption opening up opportunities for brands to reach consumers through the D2C model to rake in the moolah.

Apart from the panel discussions comprising of 45-plus eminent industry stalwarts, we have 3 Ideative Sessions, 2 Bridging Talks and Spotlight Sessions as well.

Bridging talks is a great opportunity to showcase the buying/ sourcing strategy to the industry and its top companies. Aimed at creating the vital link between the stakeholders concerned — one of the sessions will be conducted by Suparna Malhotra, Vice President of the Newtimes Group revolving around issues like sourcing, PD and supply chain management while Vikas Budhiraja of ARISE will helm the other bridging talk session.

To discuss and deliberate to ignite the spark of innovation and creativity at ASW’s ideative session will be two big names from the world of technology and forecasting, namely Trace Network Labs and WGSN.

Sunil Arora, Co-founder of Trace Network Labs will highlight the impact of Metaverse on fashion industry in one of the ideative sessions, highlighting the robust growth the industry is going through owing to this transformational new platform while WGSN will conduct another ideative session to throw all important light on trends (colour, palettes, etc.) to give a vision of the future.

Chair of BGMEA Standing Committee on Trade Fair Mohammed Kamal Uddin will address one of the spotlight sessions which will talk about Bangladesh’s journey and its vision to reach US $ 100 billion.
