|“I have no qualms in placing the success of ASW ’19 on the shoulders of our associates and partners. I thank all for their support and encouragement.” - Renu Mohindra, Managing Director, Apparel Resources
Creating synergy of purpose is very critical for the success of any venture and ASW ’19 is a testimonial to the fact. Though the event was the first edition of the show, the confidence shown by the exhibitors, visitors and the sponsors on the concept, and the organisers in putting such a show together was among the biggest edges that Apparel Resources had during the preparation stage and even during the event. On hindsight, it was the industry that gave the real thrust for ASW ’19.
|The endorsement of the Commerce Ministry of both India and Bangladesh added credibility to an effort that was designed to create business opportunities for both countries and improve trade relations. With the backing of BGMEA and years of interaction with the Bangladesh industry, ASW ’19 saw some of the best garment manufacturing names from the country exhibit at the event. For many, it was the first time that they participated in an exhibition.
|Bringing such companies on board was a challenge, but the conviction that the AR team had on why ASW is needed and what would make the show a must-attend platform for the target audience consisting of retailers and brands from India and abroad, rubbed off to the companies and the final tally of exhibitors is for all to see. Companies like Standard Group, Epic, Lenny Fashions, Pacific Jeans, Bando Design, Giant Group, Sonia Sweaters, Pratibha Syntex, Anowara, NIPA, Apex, Armana, Pakiza to name a few exhibited their latest collections. “We are very happy that we could deliver what we promised,” adds Renu Mohindra. With around 3,000 industry visitors over the two-day event, the venue was buzzing with activity and interactions.
|While the exhibitors could meet potential partners and discuss the technicalities of working together, the sponsors could meet up with many existing and new clients. The sponsor list included co-sponsor Shima Seiki, technology partner Navis TubeTex, IT partner BlueKaktus, thread partner Coats, accessory partner Manohar Filaments, Hanger partner Mainetti, Innovation partner Sakho and logistic partner Delhivery. It is needless to say that every sponsor added value to the event and to the experience of the participants, whether as an exhibitor or a visitor.
|While Japan-based Shima Seiki offers complete solutions for the apparel supply chain from planning to production and sales support, Navis TubeTex from the US is a leader in finishing machinery for the global textile industry that designs, engineers and manufactures the world’s leading machinery for the global knits, woven and nonwoven, technical and geotextile industries. Who in the industry does not know Coats, the world’s leading industrial thread manufacturer and now a total solution provider having acquired some very interesting IT based companies like Fast React and ThreadSol in the last few years?
|Also adding value was BlueKaktus, a smart, cloud-based solution provider for manufacturing firms, sourcing organisations, brands, home furnishings and leather industry. Another interesting partner was Manohar Filaments, a one-stop shop for all garment trims, with specialisation in labels, patches and packaging.
|On the knowledge and inspiration front, Trend partner Fashion Snoops, Industry partner Third Eyesight, Delegation partner NIFTA and Knowledge partner Tecknopak kept the industry engaged, informed and inspired. The speakers of each panel discussion were the big attractions of the event. Regional heads from international liaison offices like Hande Diltemiz, Regional Country Head, Production, H&M; Tanuja Sinha Roy, Regional Manager, JC Penney; Anika Passi, Country Manager, The Warehouse Group, were among the notable panellists who passionately discussed about the industry and sourcing strategies.
|CXOs from retail like Mohit Dhanjal, Director- Retail, Raymond; Amisha Jain, CEO, Zivame; Vipul Mathur, CEO, MUFTI and Vivek Mehta, CEO, MAS brands shared their knowledge and experience about the retail scenario in India. In other sessions, Sourcing Directors, Supply Chain Managers and Technologists kept the audience enthralled. |The organisers thank all industry friends, associates and supporters for their genuine involvement and look forward to seeing all of them and many more in the upcoming edition in February 2020!
