The Buzz for ASW 2020 is getting louder!

Apparel Sourcing Week 2019 was a hit for all the stakeholders that were a part of the ASW family- be it an exhibitor, a buyer, a collaborator, a sponsor, or even a simple visitor - as it introduced the concept of India’s very own sourcing platform that enabled the south-east Asian countries to cater to the needs of the rapidly growing Indian retail market. Carving a niche for itself, ASW became a networking channel for different industry players, triggering the need for such an event on an even higher scale. And thus, with the announcement of the next edition of Apparel Sourcing Week 2020, which is set to take place on 20-21-22, February 2020 at the beautiful Sheraton Grand, Bengaluru, a stir has been built in the industry about the much bigger ‘3 days of sourcing’ with greater networking opportunities coming along with it.
Owing to the major turnout enjoyed by the panel discussions that revolved around the key sourcing and buying factors deciding the supply-demand paradigm of the fashion industry, we will now be introducing eight panel discussions instead of six in the second edition. Saurabh Arya, Walmart, talks about how these insightful seminars are what he is looking forward to in ASW 2020, “In the first-ever ASW, I was quite impressed by the seminars/sessions organised. They were good and enlightening, although I could attend for a brief time only. I want to get exposure to what is happening in Indian retail world. As I am part of the export organisation, I want to know what’s happening in our local market and this is where the seminar sessions become crucial for me.”
Divya Maben, Fashion Influencer, has similar thoughts to share as she calls ASW the place where all industry leaders can converse. To put it in her own words, “The best part of the event is that all the prominent leaders from the fashion industry are here and if someone is trying to make their way in the fashion business, this is the place they need to be at.”
ASW thrives on the vision of becoming the Go-To Sourcing Platform for all retailers and brands looking for premium manufacturers from around the world. ASW ’20 will open its doors to 150 manufacturers from India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and China. It will also include the luxury manufacturers from these destinations that are producing high value apparel, in addition to mass producers of fashion. Divya Joshi, Design Manager of Ajio, puts forth her view in this regard, “I saw Fashion Snoops and WGSN coming together and that was the USP which I found. Last year, I felt the need for India and other south-east Asian countries such as Hong Kong, China, to be part of the show. It is great to know that these will be there in the next leaf of ASW, and I am definitely looking forward!”
Kunal Pant, Head-Womenswear, Project Eve, Reliance Retail Ltd shares, “I was hoping to see vendors open to certain denims and smaller MOQs, vendors actively into fast fashion and I met them here. The cherry on the cake for me were the ‘Fashion Snoops’ session for trends and WGSN. I am looking forward to meet the vendors from other countries for the same.”
Summarising the enthusiasm of different buyers and visitors who are eagerly waiting for the next Apparel Sourcing Week, Puneet Madan from Legacy Fashions says, “Our experience with the event was an eye-opening one and kudos to Apparel Resources for bringing international suppliers and Indian buyers under one roof. We always look at China as a manufacturing source, but after Apparel Sourcing Week, our horizons have opened up to many more countries and locations that we can get our apparel manufactured from. Looking forward to ASW 2020!” On the other hand, the visitors who will be attending ASW for the very first time next year too are in all praises for the phenomenal event. One of them, Hetal Kotak, CEO, aLL and Lee Cooper by Future Group, opines, “This concept is very new and India definitely needed something like this. It is a good networking opportunity for the visitors and the participants. Looking forward to the same!”
